Whit Mother's Day just around the corner, I thought that it might be fun to put together a little post on some creative gift wrapping ideas.

I just loved these little cupcake boxes.  Check out the tutorial here.

Mother's Day Tutorials - A Roundup

Mother's Day Spa Wrap from Hello Cotton

Coffee Sleeves Tutorial - p.s. I also have a couple of free coffee sleeve tutorials here on our blog.  Check them out as well.

Lunch sack tutorial These little hobo style lunch sacks are so easy to make and they make a great gift.  I made one for my sister's bday last year.  I think that it took about 30 minutes, start-to-finish.

May Day Projects

May Day Paper Cones

Ribbon Dancers  - These are so simple to make.  I actually just bought shower curtain rings from the dollar store and wrapped them with ribbon and then hung the other ribbons off.  This is a major hit with kids and make a great, cheap party favor.

Some really cute may day cupcakes.

Mismatched Socks - Some Tutorials

So while I was putting together the spring cleaning roundup, I got inspired to make a whole roundup of things to do with mismatched socks.  I don't think that I could use all of our mismatched socks if I had a whole lifetime to devote to the pursuit, but here are some fun projects anyhooo.

Sock Bangle

Sock Monsters
Sock Wreath
Sock Rattle
Sock Vases - these are awesome.  I never knew I needed to make these until I saw this post.  I'm think that this idea + character socks of my daughters + old pringles cans or plastic cups = fun crayon holder/desk organizer.

Barbie clothes  I'm sure we did a tutorial on this last year, but it is really fun.  I even let my daughter, then 3, make some herself.  Who cares?  They are made from mismatched or outgrown socks.  What could go wrong.  Plus, they are really easy to get on and off, so you will not be barbie's personal dresser for the day.

I wish I loved anything like kids love bubbles

Chenille Stem Bubble Wands - talk about cheap fun!
This wand looks like something a fairy would leave on your doorstep.
Giant Bubble Wand
Some Bubble Solution Recipes:

Cyndi's Bubble Recipes
from the Nathan's Wish web site

1/2 cup of dishwashing liquid (Dawn or Joy)
2 cups of water
2 teaspoons of sugar
Cyndi suggests adding a dab of food coloring for colorful bubbles. Mix the solution and place in a shallow pan (or refill your old bubble containers). NOTE: More recipes and fun with bubbles are available at the website link above.

p.s. and I'm not judging here, but you might be a little crazy if you need your bubble solution to be organic, but you could make this with your organic dishwashing liquid and organic sugar.

Ann Hallock's Recipe
from the Family.com web site

Ann says: "This recipe is a winner. It's easy to mix up--and inexpensive to boot. Simply stir together 6 parts water, 2 parts Joy dishwashing liquid (this brand works the best), and 3/4 part corn syrup. Store in a covered container. Have your kids try experimenting with a variety of homemade bubble wands: pipe cleaners bent into interesting shapes, cookie cutters, yogurt lids with the centers cut out, and so on. For a giant bubblemaker, cut off the top and bottom of a large metal can with a can opener and hammer the inside edges until they are smooth (a parent's job). Dip either end in the solution and wave through the air."

Put corn syrup or sugar is in place of going to the pharmacy and getting glycerin.

To be honest, we just mix a few drops of dish soap in with water and call it a day around our house.  It usually ends up spilled anyway.

Working with Cork Fabric

So, I am not an expert in this - based on using it for one project.  However, I did a lot of research before buying it and watched quite a f...
